Tyte Beatboxing, music, writing, art and mathematics!

Biography

Gavin Tyte (aka TyTe) started making vocal drum and percussion sounds at the age of 8.  He still has a recording, made on his dad's reel-to-reel tape machine in 1979.  He heard his first hip-hop mix tape at the age of 12 and in the early 1980s was inspired by US beatboxers Doug E Fresh, Buffy and Biz Markie.  In his early teens, TyTe recorded beatbox radio jingles for local radio as well as came runner up in BBC television's Young Entertainer of the Year.

In 2001 Gavin teamed up with Alex Tew (aka A-Plus) to help launch the beatboxing website beatboxing.co.uk, that later became HUMANBEATBOX.COM.  He was member number 3 and within three years the site had grown to over 6000 registered members.  Gavin developed the world's first online beatboxing tutorials, first with audio and then with video.  In 2004, Gavin took on the site and grew the community from 6000 to 47000 registered members.

Gavin has featured on national radio and performed on numerous CD and vinyl releases.  Gavin came up with the idea for a World Beatboxing Convention and has been a regular judge at the UK Beatboxing Championships.  He has performed at venues across the south of England including clubs, universities, and major festivals.
